Description

So, Pride 2010 just passed and I wanted to post a picture in honor of it. You can't really see it but I'm wearing a rainbow ring. I took out all of the color except for the ring and a little on the bracelet.

Anyway. I like this picture a lot.

The title is a bit of a story.

I was thinking about stereotypes and how people get categorized. I personally believe you cannot judge a person until you get to know them. Without knowledge you are simply an ignorant fool. So I thought of it as "oh you can't tell I'm gay, but look, I'm wearing a rainbow ring that could mean I'm either supportive of gay rights, am gay myself, or maybe I just think it's pretty."

Ya know, stuff like that.

Criticism welcomed.

I like the concept. I think that was a good idea. But the photo does have a few things that could be improved. The background is distracting, you can put a sheet or something there to control that. Your arm is also distracting, it takes up too much of the picture and is just sort of...there. Your face is fine but it doesn't really draw that much attention because the arm blocks it. The ring and bracelet don't stand out enough, the colors are a little washed out and hard to see (the shine on the ring doesn't help either). I don't know what the focus of the picture is supposed to be, I'm pretty sure it's the ring but if that's the case then the location of it wasn't a good choice because it's so close to the edge of the photo. There's no real movement in the picture, I focus too much on your arm.

Overall it's a decent picture, but there are always improvement to be made. (Please know that I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just giving you my honest opinion as a fellow artist. I'm still learning too!)
